Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is an emissions reduction technique used in modern engines to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. EGR works by recirculating some of the exhaust gases back into the engine cylinders. This means that the oxygen available for combustion in the engine is lowered so that the peak engine temperature is reduced. As nitrogen oxides are only produced in a particular high temperature and high-pressure environment, this limits the opportunities for these nitrogen oxides to be produced.

The downside is that the EGR is also recycling gas full of particulates and partially burnt fuel, meaning that carbon deposits occur, risking serious engine damage through clogged inlets or burnt valves. Furthermore, the engine is made less efficient by the EGR, increasing your fuel costs. With our remap, we disable the EGR valve, resulting in better fuel efficiency and potentially improving engine lifespan.
